Girls Under 15 cager tourney from October 19 to 21

The All Island Inter School `A' Division basketball Tournament for girl's under 15 will be worked off from October 19 to 21 at two different venues.

The championship will feature two groups. The `A' group matches will take place at St. Paul's College, Milagiriya while group `B' matches will be played at St. Joseph's Girl's School, Nugegoda. The tournament is organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association.

The group `A' comprise St. Lawrance School, Wellawatte, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo, St. Bridget's Convent, Colombo and host St. Paul's School, Milagiriya.

The group `B' will feature Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, Maliyadeva Girls College, Kurunegala and St. Joseph's Girls School, Nugegoda.

St. Joseph's Girls College, Nugegoda were the last year's champions while Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls College ended up runners up. St. Paul's Girls College finished third. On the opening day of the tournament St. Paul's girls will take on St. Lawrance while Sirimavo Bandaranaike BMV will meet St. Bridget's Convent in group `A' at St. Paul's courts, Milagiriya.

In the group `B' St. Joseph's girls will confront Holy Family Convent in their own courts at Nugegoda.

In the semifinals winner of group `A' will meet runner up of group `B' while the winners of group `B' will take on runner up of group `B' at St. Joseph's courts, Nugegoda on October 21.

The final also will be worked off on the same day and same venue.

Boys Under 15 Tournament

Twelve teams have entered the All Island Inter Schools Basketball Tournament for Boys Under 15 this year which will get underway tomorrow at two venues.

The event will be continued until October 14 at St. Benedict's College courts, Kotahena and St. Joseph's College, Colombo.

Mahanama College, Colombo and St. Peter's College, Bambalapitiya courts will be the other venues.

This four day event is being organised by the Sri Lanka Basketball Association. All the teams have grouped into four groups. The group `A' comprise St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa, St. Benedict's College and Trinity College, Kandy.

The group `B' includes Asian International School, Maris Stella College, Negombo and Colombo International School.

The group `C' includes Royal College, Mahanama College and St. Anthony's College, Wattala. The group `D' teams are Richmond College, Galle, St. Joseph's College and D.S. Senanayake College.

St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa emerge champions last time while St. Joseph's College accounted for the second place and St. Peter's College, Bambalapitiya were placed third.

In the first match of the tournament St. Sebastian's College will confront host St. Benedict's College while Royal College will take on Mahanama College in the other match at St. Benedict's College courts.

Asian International School will meet Maris Stella College while Richmond College battle it out against St. Joseph's College in the other matches on the opening day which will be played at St. Joseph's College, courts.
