Nadeera Jinasena burns the Chennai motor racing track
RACING: The third round of the AMRC Formula LGB Motor Racing
Championship was held on in the Southern Indian city of Chennai
recently.
The following Motor Racing Drivers competed in this Formula Motor
Racing Championship - Nalin Gunasekera, Nihal Weerasinghe, Rikas Kahlid,
S.A. Harsha, S.A. Duminda, Shehan de Tissera, Tharindu Lokuge, Nadeera
Jinasena, Susantha Gunawardene, Ashan Silva, Pasindu Peiris, M. Amadoru
left to compete in this Formula Motor Racing Championship.
Three racing drivers who were leading the points table, namely S.A.
Harsha, Nadeera Jinasena, M. Amodoru were expected to have keen
competition among themselves.
Dinesh Jayawardana and Janaka Dias who had won one event each in
round 2 could not participate in round 3 as they had just completed
participating in the AMRC MRF Championship Race in Coimbatore.
The first event of the third round of the racing championship
commenced according to schedule. Nadeera Jinasena who got a flying start
in this event was ahead of all other competitors till the finishing
line.
There was a keen tussle between M. Amodoru and Nalin Gunasekera for
the second place in this event. Nadeera Jinasena who was leading, was
cautious during the last few lapse but own this event very comfortably
without much competition from others.
However, until the winning point there was neck to neck fight between
Amodoru and Nalin and finally Amodoru came second and Nalin third.
It was interesting that 24 formula cars participated in this event
since the LGB Swift CE Event for the 12 Sri Lanka drivers was run
concurrently with LGB Swift MPFI Event for 12 Indian Drivers.
The second Event of the third round of the championship commenced.
Nadeera Jinasena who stared off well and made use of his experience and
won once again. Second place was taken by Rikas Khalid. The third place
went to Ashan Silva who had participated first time in a Formula LGB
Motor Racing Championship.
Nadeera finished his race with one of the best efforts of his racing
career. For each event the competitors had to finish eight laps of this
challenge track which is 3.7km a lap with 15 corners. Nadeera raced at
average speed of 107.739 km per hour.
Three round of the AMRC Formula LBG Motor Racing Championship which
was organised by Asian Motor Racing Association has now been
successfully completed.
These racing championships were held in India's leading Motor racing
Circuits under International Regulations, and gave an excellent exposure
to the drivers.
