HelpAge to celebrate Intl. Day for Older Persons

COLOMBO: HelpAge Sri Lanka will celebrate International Day of Older
Persons 2007 on October 1 at a ceremony to be held at the BMICH, Colombo
at 8.00 am with the participation of Social Services and Social Welfare
Minister Douglas Devananda, Acting Executive Director, HelpAge, Samantha
Liyanwaduge said.
He said this year's theme of the International Day of Older Persons
is `Elders for development and age demands action'. HelpAge celebrate
the day in collaboration with the National Secretariat for Elders of the
Social Services and Social Welfare Ministry.
The commemoration ceremony will be preceded by a walk of the senior
citizens organised by the HelpAge Sri Lanka with the National
Secretariat for the Elders which will commence from the All Ceylon
Buddhist Women's Congress premises No.400, Bauddhaloka Mawata, Colombo 7
at 7.30 a.m. and will proceed to the BMICH.
