UK oil firms keen on oil exploration

Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Dr. Sarath Amunugama returned to Sri Lanka after an official visit to the United Kingdom and to India.

In the UK, Dr. Amunugama held a series of important discussions relating to oil exploration in Sri Lanka with British Oil Companies. Some British Companies had agreed to undertake exploration in Sri Lanka.

In India, Dr. Amunugama attended the SAARC Finance Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi.

At a meeting with the Indian Finance Minister P. Chidambaran, agreement was reached for economic co-operation in a wide range of areas.

Dr. Amunugama also held discussions with India’s Commerce Minister Shri Kamalanath, to expand bilateral relations between India and Sri Lanka on matters of trade and investment.
