ELPITYA: Twenty five year old Sameera Ranjan Godagama of the Elpitya is suffering from a severe heart disease and needs to undergo repair of Atrioventricular Canal Defect surgery.

He has been advised to undergo urgent heart surgery by Dr. Y.K.M. Lahie, MS, Frcs, Cardiac surgeon.

The operation which will cost Rs. 350,000 will be performed at the Nawaloka Hospital.

Workshop

COLOMBO: Senior academics and professionals in the field of education participated in a workshop held at Hotel Taj Samudra recently.

This was organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education.

The participants discussed various ways and means of expanding technical education to youth unable to get a university education.

It was the opinion of participants that new methods of teaching, backed by technological innovations should be used for teaching.

The Asian Development Bank and the World Bank have assured the Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Wiswa Warnapala its fullest cooperation to implement the new programmes.
