Using three wheelers as the advertising media:

New concept in local advertising

ROLLING WHEELS (Pvt) Ltd introduced a new concept to the local advertising industry, using three wheelers as the advertising media.

Under this new concept advertisers or the companies could display their billboards on three wheeler taxies running on the road in any part of the country to reach their target audience.

CEO of Rolling Wheels Dr Samila De Silva said at the moment there are 3000 three wheelers in Colombo area and expect to increase this number to 10,000. Usually any three-wheeler taxi runs 80 Km to 100 Km per day.

This new way of advertising could reach a large number of audiences within short period of time. Latest research revealed that using this media will enable advertisers to reach 81 percent of their target audience within a week.

“Number of three wheelers and the duration of the three wheeler campaign depends on the vehicle density, road density and the human density of the area that advertiser select,” he said. However advertisers need to have these three-wheeler campaign at least for fifteen days.

Under this project three wheeler drivers will have monthly payment and Rolling Wheels will have special welfare system for the drivers.

There will be special code of instructions for these three wheel drivers and special monitoring system will also implement for this project. Most of the companies expect to have this new method for their next year advertising campaigns.

Advertisements could be changed island wide weekly and advertisers will have access to statistics on reach and impact after each large campaign he said. Advertisements will be displayed on panels attached to the top and rear of the three wheelers.
