GlaxoSmithKline Lanka’s first pharmaceuticals ‘Business Superbrand’

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals (GSK), Sri Lanka, has been rated the country’s first ‘Business Superbrand’ in the pharmaceuticals sector by the Superbrands Organisation, an independent authority that focuses on identifying and paying tribute to exceptional brands around the world.

The rating follows an evaluation by a Business Superbrand Council comprising 22 eminent individuals tasked with selecting the 50 best Business to Business (B2B) brands in Sri Lanka from a shortlist of over 100 business brands, the company said this week. “GSK is honoured to be identified as a Business Superbrand in Sri Lanka,” the company’s Managing Director Stuart Chapman said.

“A Superbrand rating is recognised as the worldwide benchmark for brands with significant strategic focus and commitment to achieve extraordinary results.

Above all we consider this ranking a tribute to our customers who have placed their trust in GSK brands for over 50 years in Sri Lanka.”

According to the Superbrands Organisation, a Business Superbrand has established the finest reputation in its field and offers customers emotional and tangible advantages over competitors. Business Superbrands represent quality, reliability and distinction and establish the recipient as one of the elite business brands in the world.

“For GSK, this rating is particularly encouraging, as our mission is to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer,” Chapman said.

“Globally every second we distribute more than 35 doses of vaccine, every minute more than 1,100 prescriptions are written for GSK products and every hour we spend more than US $ 562,000 to find new medicines.”

He said that every day, more than 200 million people around the world use a GSK brand.
