Call to provide dry rations before Ramadan fasting

COLOMBO: Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Minister Rishad Bathiudeen had directed co-operative shops to issue dry rations to Northern displaced Muslims living in Puttalam and other parts of the island before Ramadan fasting.

The displaced Muslims have not received dry rations for June and July.

The Minister has instructed officials to issue dry rations immediately and has released funds to the Secretariat for the Northern Displaced Muslims.

The Minister has also directed the Commissioner of the Secretariat for the Northern Displaced Muslims, Janab. Y.L.M. Navavi to ensure that they are issued quality dry rations and at fixed prices.

Around Rs. 17.5 million is spent monthly to provide dry rations to displaced Muslims.
