New building, staff quarters for Kolonnawa Govt. factory

COLOMBO: A new factory building and a staff quarters will be
constructed at a cost of Rs. 24 million for the Kolonnawa Government
factory, Construction and Engineering Services Minister Rajitha
Senaratna said.
There are altogether 581 employees including 179 officers employed at
the Kolonnawa Government Factory. The Kolonnawa Government Factory run
by the Construction and Engineering Service Ministry and which has a
history of more than 158 years was not subjected to any renovation for
the past 40 years.
Minister Senaratna expressed confidence that the factory could be
converted into a profitable venture after the renovation by developing
the efficiency and the productivity of the employees.
The Kolonnawa Government Factory was established in 1849 aiming to
fulfil the tasks of the mechanical engineering sector and was rendering
profitable, productive and efficient service. |
