Strong winds in several provinces

COLOMBO: Strong winds were experienced in many parts of the country yesterday.

This was due to fairly active conditions of the southwest monsoons, the Department of Meteorology said yesterday.

Showers with fairly strong winds occurred in the Western,

Central, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and parts of the Northwestern Province and over the Western and Southern seas. Isolated fairly heavy rainfall is likely to continue. Southern, Western and the Gulf of Mannar sea area continued to be rough due to strong winds.
