Contract for Batticaloa Water Supply Scheme signed
COLOMBO: China Geo-Engineering Corporation/Salcon Engineering Berhad/Access
Engineering Ltd., signed a contract for US$ 37 million with the National
Water Supply and Drainage Board on August 23 for the design,
construction and completion of head works, water transmission main and
treatment plant for the Batticaloa Water Supply Project carried out by
the National Water Supply and Drainage Board funded by the Asian
Development Bank.
This project includes the construction of an Intake Pumping Station
with a capacity of 100,000 M3 per day, Raw Water Transmission main of 20
km, Water Treatment Plant capacity of 40,000 M3 per day, including
Treated Water Storage Tanks, Pumping Stations and transmission mains.
The commencement of work is scheduled for September 2007 and due to
be completed by March 2010.
