Lankan fishermen freed

COLOMBO:The ten Sri Lankan fishermen from Kalpitiya, Puttalam who have been detained at S. India Tuticurin harbour police station will be released immediately. S.P. Anthonymuthu, PRO and Media Communication Consultant Caritas Sri Lanka.

SEDEC who met Mohamed Hori - District Superintendent of Police of Tuticuri District at his office and obtained his approval for the release of the ten fishermen who have been taken into custody by Indian Navy in March 2007 while they have been fishing and remanded at Maduraie. A case has been field according to the Indian law.

The family members of these fishermen have brought this to the notice of Rev. Fr. Damien Fernando - National Director through Rev. Fr. Edward Karunanayaka Caritas Chilaw.
