‘Denuwara Mithuro’ to bridge gap between communities

COLOMBO: The Education Ministry will launch a `Knowledge and
Experience sharing programme’ for students under the theme `Denuwara
Mithuro’ aiming to bridge the gap between the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim
students affected by terrorist activities for more than three decades.
The programme will coincide with the Nagenahira Navodaya programme which
is being carried out by the Government.
Under the Denuwara Mithuro programme the first event will be held at
the College of Education premises, Pulathisipura in Polonnaruwa from
August 31 to September 6 for the students and teachers in Akkaraipattu
and Pottuvil educational zones. These students and teachers will be
given the opportunity to share knowledge and experience with the
students and the teachers in the Polonnaruwa District.
The programme will also be an opportunity for students and teachers
in the North-East to build up friendship with the students and the
teachers in the rest of the country.
Language and religious activities, cultural and aesthetic programmes
and study tours are scheduled to be held aiming to build fraternity
among the groups. |
