BOI projects worth over Rs. 550m
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) signed agreements for 7
new projects recently. Chairman/Director General of the BOI Dhammika
Perera signed the agreements on behalf of the Board and formally handed
over the certificates to the investors. Total employment generation
would be over 1,500.
The Aquagardens N-W (Private) Limited signed an agreement to commence
a project that represents an investment of Rs.242 million. The project
involves the processing of seafood for export and will be based at
Bangadeniya. It will provide employment for a workforce of 307.
Neil Marine J Boat Builders signed an agreement to manufacture all
types of fishing boats for the local market. The project represents an
investment of Rs.45 million and will be based at Custom Road, Beruwala.
It will provide employment to a workforce of 208 at capacity.
An agreement to manufacture and assemble energy saving lamps for
export purposes was signed by Lanka Boysun Electronic (Private) Limited.
The Rs. 27.5 million project will be based at Kadawata and will provide
employment for a workforce of 82.
Civaro International signed the agreement for a project that
represents an investment of US$ 250,000. The project is for the
establishing of a regional operating headquarters company. The Project
Office for this purpose will be located at Foster Lane, Colombo 10.
V.S. Turbo signed an agreement for a project that represents an
investment of US$ 795,000.
The project will provide employment for a workforce of 87 and will be
based at Talduwa, Avissawella. The project involves manufacturing of
Turbines for the local market.
An agreement to manufacture garments for export by taking over M/s
M.S.A. Mode (Private) Limited was signed by Christy Clothing. The
project represents an investment of Rs. 67.2 million and will provide
employment for a workforce of 1,000. It will be based at Makulwewa,
Kurunegala.
The Agreement for setting up of a hospital at Puttalam was signed by
Minhas Hospital (Private) Limited. The project represents an investment
of Rs. 60 million and will provide employment for a workforce of 51.4 |
