Shivantha at the helm again
PRESIDENT: Shivantha Vivekanandan the well-known former sports
star was elected uncontested as President, Deaf School Past Pupils’
Association, The School for the Deaf, Ratmalana for the fifth successive
year at the 58th Annual General Meeting held at the Stanley Hall, The
School for the Deaf, Ratmalana recently.
A distinguished past pupil of the School for the Deaf, Ratmalana and
Maryline High School, Kollupitiya, he was a good sportsman as well as a
brilliant student who won many awards in sports, art and studies.
He represented the Deaf Recreation Club, Rajagiriya at cricket,
athletics and table tennis where he won many trophies, medals,
certificates and awards.
During Shivantha Vivekanandan’s tenure, he organised the Deaf Schools
sports activities such as netball, cricket and volleyball partnered by
Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited where many deaf schools from Sri Lanka
took part in the tournaments.
He also is the current president, Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association
and Vice Chairman, Asia Deaf Cricket Federation.
