Mukund steals the limelight in drawn Second Test

CRICKET: Seventeen-year-old Tamil Nadu cricketer Abhinav Mukund stole the limelight scoring 205 and 108 for India Under-19 Cricket Team in the second cricket Test against Sri Lanka which ended in a draw at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy yesterday.

The Indian team were struggling at one stage with the score at 50 for 4, but Mukund and Saurabhi Tiwaragi (77) steered them to safety with a useful start of 145 for the fifth wicket. Abhinav Mukund in scoring his second hundred of the match hit 14 fours and faced 134 balls.

Saurabhi Tiwargi hit 7 fours in his 88 ball knock. Left-arm spinner Sachith Pathirana bowled best to capture 3 for 65. Earlier in the day skipper Pathirana batted brightly to score 62 with the aid of 10 run and a six to help Sri Lanka avoid the follow on.

The match was called off with 14 of the mandatory overs remaining.
