Forces seize arms, ammunition

BATTICALOA: Security Forces seized a haul of arms and ammunition in the Narakamulla and Naveenigala areas on Thursday evening, Military sources said.

According to the sources, troops in a search operation in the East, recovered seven T56 assault rifles, a claymore mine weighing 10kg, two anti-personnel mines, three Bangalore torpedoes and a pistol.

Security Forces recovered arms following information provided by two surrendered LTTE cadres in Koviladi, Trincomalee.

Among the arms were a T56 assault rifle along with 100 rounds of ammunition and two hand grenades.
