Over to you Chairman Kelaniya Development Council
I write to you from Jayakody Place, Waragoda Road, Kelaniya. There
are less than ten houses on this road and the removal of garbage by the
Kelaniya Development Council tractors has been very regular in the past.
Tractors regularly came to remove readymade ‘garbage bags’ kept just
in front of the residents’ gates. They were nicely packed into bags.
They regularly came on two days of the week. i.e. Wednesdays and
Sundays.
Since late, they have stopped coming on Sundays without any prior
notice to the tax payers on Jayakody Place. However they come on Sundays
and collect the ‘garbage bags’ kept on the main road by the residents
living on either side of Waragoda Road.
The ‘garbage bags’ of residents of Jayakody Place kept in front of
their gates on Sunday mornings are tampered by stray dogs and cats and
the whole area is polluted till next Wednesday of the week.
Although I brought this situation to the notice of the Chairman of
the Kelaniya Development Council, no action has yet been taken to
rectify this sad situation.

Over to you Mayor CMC
The residents in and around the Grandpass area in a quandary as to
why the newly constructed supermarket complex is being kept closed for
so long.
It is time that the Mayor of Colombo and the Municipal Commissioner
make all the necessary arrangements to open it to the public, as at
present the public is compelled to do their marketing along the
pavements risking their lives.
It is proper that an elderly resident of the area be invited for this
purpose, as it was built with the ratepayers’ money.
