Efficient public sector through ‘Citizens Charter’

DAMBULLA: Initial steps to streamline the public service will
be put in motion from August 1, through the ‘Citizens Charter’ in all
public service oriented institutions, Public Administration and Home
Affairs Minister Karu Jayasuriya said.
He also said the ‘Citizens Charter’ is a pact of the Government with
the public to ensure a productive public service.
The Government will get an opportunity to release the people of the
Eastern province from the trauma of conflict with conclusion of the
present military operation, he added.
Minister Jayasuriya was speaking at the opening ceremony of the new
building of the Dambulla Divisional Secretariat constructed at a cost of
Rs. 32 million.
The natural resources available in the Eastern province will be used
for the benefit of the people throughout the country, Minister
Jayasuriya said.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa is devoted to improve the standard of the
public service and he hoped to fulfil their needs speedily through an
efficient public oriented service. |
