Progress in technology would ease poverty eradication - Prof.

LOGO: “Techno Exhibition, the annual flagship event of the
Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka will be positioned as the National
Engineering and Technology Exhibition of Sri Lanka from this year.
The Minister of Science and Technology Prof. Tissa Vitharana unveiled
the new logo of Techno at the press conference held at Galadari Hotel
Colombo on July 11.
Addressing the media Prof Vitharana said that if Sri Lanka is to
emerge from poverty, technology is the way out and the Techno Exhibition
will take an important message to people to recognise
innovative,creative and developed technology.
He also said that labour power is now replaced with technology and
people are living with a knowledge based on economy and innovative
technology. Therefore the development of communication and information
technology has brought the world closer together.
The President IESL, D.L.Taldena said that all the institutions
representing engineering and technology have joined the IESL to show
their services to the nation through Techno.
The Chairman Techno Eng Ranjith Rubasinghe said that the exhibition
would exhibit the latest developments in engineering and cutting edge
technologies in the world, while providing opportunity to bring in new
products to the market through innovations and value additions which
would have a splendid blend of engineering and trade stalls.
The National Engineering and Technology Exhibition will be held from
October 19 to 21 at the BMICH during the National Science Week.
There will be an Engineering Summit, Quiz Programme and Techno
Engineering Award Ceremony in parallel to the exhibition. |
