NIPF provides solutions for problems of industrial sector

INDUSTRIES: The National Industrial Policy Framework will help
to contribute towards finding lasting solutions for the problems of the
industrial sector in the country, Minister of Industrial Development
Kumar Welgama said.
“This policy framework which was prepared jointly by the Institute of
Policy Studies and the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka is mainly for
that purpose,” Minister Welgama said at the Annual General Meeting of
the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka.

He said that in preparation of this policy framework both institutes
have consulted all the stakeholders, the investors mainly the government
officials, private sector investors, academics. Trade unions and
prepared it in a very transparent manner.
He said that the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Industrial
Association of Sri Lanka being leaders of the private sector industrial
community has identified their role well.
Industrial Association could be proud of the contribution they have
made within the last 16 years and hope they could assist the rapid
industrialization the government intends to carry out, he said.
Minister Welgama said those members of the Industrial Association are
involved in various committees and sub committees appointed by the
Government and also members of the industrial cluster are also in the
process of formulating a code ethics for industrialists, he said.
Minister Welgama also said the Government and the Ministry of
Industrial Development gives a lot of concessions to industrialists
under the 300 factories programme to invest in remote areas and also
associations should encourage their members to grab those opportunities
and invest in regions too. |
