Dr. Chanaka Amaratunga gold medal for Political Science graduates

COLOMBO: The University of Colombo held its General Convocation ceremony at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) recently.

At the convocation, three talented young women who have performed equally well in obtaining the highest marks for political science were awarded the Dr. Chanaka Amaratunga Memorial Gold Medal presented by Dr. Chanaka Amaratunga Foundation. N. W. B. Adikaram, S. Chandran and A. D. M. Ruwanpathirana were the gold medallists.

The foundation has recognised the need to support youth coming up in the field of political science. With the intention of encouraging their desire for further education, the Foundation also organised measures to grant a Dr. Chanaka Amaratunga Memorial Scholarship to those who wish to pursue higher studies.

Dr. Chanaka Amarathunga Foundation established on August 9, 2000 supports all endeavours to sustain liberal democracy in Sri Lanka, a release from the Foundation said.
