Over to you Chairman Panadura UC

Sri Maha Vihara Road, Panadura is perhaps the only road in this area that has been utterly neglected for over a long period of time. Not only the road is full of potholes, its drains on either side are also broken and dilapidated. Apart from the residential houses on both sides, there is also a popular Montessori facing this road.

During rainy weather, residents face two major problems. One is that they cannot walk on this road without getting wet and or falling on the road.

The other is that the unbuilt and broken drains overflow into the gardens of people making living hazardous for them.

This is not a problem unknown to the Panadura Urban Council (UC). The UC is situated a short distance from this neglected road. What they do is when a resident complaints at the UC some labourers come and dig up the drain in front of his house and go away.

This is a short road. Why cannot the UC at least clean up the drains on both sides, so that the water would not spill over to our gardens? This is a matter that could be put to right by the UC, if they really want to do it.

Over to you Chairman Dehiwela-Mount Lavinia MC and Chairman RDA

The flooding of S.D.S. Jayasinghe Mawatha, Nugegoda has been a severe problem to all establishments and residences in the area.

In spite of several meetings with the relevant authorities, no action has been taken so far to bring the situation under control.

The Chairman Dehiwela-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council and Chairman RDA and EE (Western Province) please take necessary action to solve this problem.

It is disheartening to know, that the public have to pay the price for the inefficiency of the authorities concerned. Don’t we deserve a better service for payment of taxes and rates on time?

We therefore request you to kindly direct this problem to those responsible for relevant action to be taken without further delay. We extend our deep gratitude to the Daily News, for coming forward to highlight the problems faced by the frustrated general public.
