Lake House organised this event to coincide with the Mihintale Aloka Pooja to illuminate the expanse of Mihintale, in keeping with its programmes in progress at Anuradhapura for the Poson festival.

The Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Rajamaha Vihara, Ven. Namalwewe Rathanasara Thera led the proceedings.

General Manager of Lake House, Abhaya Amaradasa who was the Chief Guest, distributed the prizes and gifts to the children. The creche’s children welcomed the guests with song and dance.

Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya, Ven. Rathanasara Thera said that Lake House had given a new lease of life to the creche with its continuous support to the pre-school since its (pre-schools) inception in 1995.

He said that it was the responsibility of the parents, teachers and the public in Katupotha to up-keep the facility.

ANCL General Manager Abhaya Amaradasa said that the Board of Directors of Lake House, including the company’s Chairman Bandula Padmakumara were keen to increase the company’s support to the facility considering the progress it has made in the past few years.

WINNER: Media Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa hands over a certificate to a student who participated in an essay contest organised by the ANCL to mark Poson.

He highlighted the Athuru Mithuru Children’s Development centre’s need for electricity and water and said that measures will be taken to provide these facilities to the children, he said.

He pointed out that the progress so far made by the creche could not be achieved without the dedication of its supervisor, teacher Thamara Kumari and volunteer teacher Sagarika Priyangani.

“The management has decided to increase their payments for their dedicated work” he said.

Desamanya Lion Mahinda Hewage of 30/C1 Lions’ Club of Kitigahawatta, who provided monitory assistance for the prize giving was also present on this occasion.

ANCL Deputy General Manager Narada Sumanaratna, Assistant General Manager D.M.P.A., Dassanayaka, Manager Mahendra Rodrigo, Assistant Manager A. Sudusinghe and Anuradhapura ANCL Branch Office Manager Sarath Perera were also present.
