Chandrika will not return to politics - Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle

COLOMBO: Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has expressed the view that she would not get involved in politics in Sri Lanka in the future.

Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle said the former President wrote to him last month thanking for his support in Parliament to increase her personal security.

“In the last paragraph of this letter she wrote that she did not hope to get involved in Sri Lankan politics in any capacity.”

Minister Fernandopulle told reporters that going by this letter there was no likelihood of Kumaratunga’s return to politics, responding to questions at the media briefing hosted by him at the Information Department.
