Wijesingha to contest next BASL election

COLOMBO: Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority Sarath Wijesinghe, Attorney - at -Law and Solicitor in England and Wales will contest for the post of President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) to be held in 2008.

He said: “My ambition is to serve the profession and the country using my knowledge on law, International Law and relations and other experiences and also to assist the young lawyers to expose themselves to the world and to maintain professional standards and maintain Rules of Law.”

Sarath Wijesinghe was one time General Secretary of the BASL and Administrator of the Legal Aid Commission. Wijesinghe practised as a Solicitor, Advocate in UK after having obtained the post Graduate degree in the University of London.
