Workshop to explore micro insurance
WORKSHOP: An upcoming regional workshop in Sri Lanka will gather
insurance professionals and policymakers to explore the viability of
offering micro insurance services to the poor.
“Despite their high risk livelihood, the poor have little access to
insurance services, whether for fire, theft or illness,” says Mayumi
Ozaki, an ADB Finance Specialist. “Yet through innovative means, the
poor can be given protection so they can enjoy a more secure and
healthier life.”
The workshop, to be held from June 28 to 29 in Colombo, is organised
by ADB, the Cambridge Center for Public Policy Development, and the
Insurance Board of Sri Lanka.
