Proposed recruitment of 50,000 members to Security Forces false
COLOMBO: The Defence, Public Security, Law and Order Ministry
categorically denies as utter falsehood the news appearing in a
yesterday’s English daily that the Ministry has made arrangements to
recruit 50,000 new members to the Security Forces according to a
directive by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, states a press release from
the Media Centre for National Security. The news item further says that
an official of the Defence Ministry has disclosed this information.
However, the Ministry emphasises that no high official or any
responsible officer attached to the Defence Ministry has given such
information. The Defence Ministry declares that this news is a total
fabrication and totally denies it.
The Defence Ministry condemns the publication of such falsehoods to
mislead the people while the Security Forces have taken steps to ensure
the security of all communities, giving priority to National Security.
In this context, the Defence, Public Security, Law and Order Ministry
appeals to all media not to embarrass the Security Forces by propagating
such falsehoods. |
