Foundation stone laid for first Ranaviru village

ANURADHAPURA: Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Development Minister S. M. Chandrasena laid the foundation stone for Sri Lanka’s first Ranaviru village at Morawewa, Horowpathana in the Anuradhapura district recently.

The new village built on a 500-acre plot of land will consist of 5,000 housing units.

It is the first stage of an islandwide programme to build 50,000 houses for war heroes and will comprise all modern amenities including schools, hospitals, banks and a new township, a Ministry release said.
