One thousand children for Olympic Day run in Badulla

ATHLETICS: The International Olympic Day which falls on June 23 will
be commemorated at Badulla on June 16 where one thousand children will
participate.
This was revealed at a press conference held at Riverside Inn hall on
Friday presided over by the Secretary of the National Olympic Committee
of Sri Lanka Commander H.U. Silva. Explaining the programme Commander
Silva said that this International Olympic Day is being celebrated in
order to enlighten the Children and Public.
The one thousand children from 20 schools will run a relay commencing
from the Vincent Dias stadium via Mosque Road, Bazaar Street, Lower
Street, Post Office Road, Muthiyangana Road, Passara Road and back to
the Vincent Dias Stadium.
"Mobitel" is sponsoring this programme and each participant will be
provided with T Shirts and a Certificate. The Chief Minister Wijith
Wijemuni Soysa, Minister of Health Nimal Siripala de Silva. Minister of
Justice Dilan Perera and the Mayor of Badulla Municipal Council Upali
Nissanka Gunasekera are expected to participate at this celebration.
