Lanka gets Rs. 4100m for TB control

COLOMBO: The Global Fund for Anti Tuberculosis and Malariya (GFATM)
will grant Sri Lanka Rs. 4100 million for Sri Lanka's, Tuberculosis (TB)
control programme on a request by Healthcare and Nutrition Minister
Nimal Siripala de Silva, a Ministry spokesman said.
De Silva had explained the importance of controlling TB effectively
during the World Health Ministers' Forum in Geneva. Responding to the
minister's request, GFATM agreed to fund Sri Lanka's TB control
programme.
Sri Lanka's TB control programme is in progress in six phases and
funds will be utilised for the programme's sixth phase. Sri Lanka
already has an effective TB control programme and this grant will
strengthen the programme. |
