Compensation for Ratmalana blast victims

COLOMBO: The Government will pay compensation for those who died and injured in the LTTE’s claymore mine attack at Ratmalana on Monday.

The Government has decided to pay Rs. 100,000 for a person who died and Rs. 50,000 for an injured person by the blast, Disaster Relief Services Minister Ameer Ali said.

On the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, steps will be taken to pay these compensation to the victims with immediate effect.

Seven civilians were killed and 37 others were injured due to the LTTE’s claymore mine blast at Belekkade Junction, Ratmalana on Monday.
