COLOMBO: Transport Minister Dullas Allahapperuma has taken
steps to provide the children of all employees under his Ministry and
affiliated institutions with school equipment to assist them in their
educational activities.
The programme titled ‘Sisu Thilina’ is part of an incentive scheme to
appreciate the toil and labour of members of the transport sector to
provide a quality and efficient service to the public.
Allahapperuma said since the aim of his Ministry is to make Sri
Lanka’s public transport sector the best in Asia, he was happy to launch
a programme that would leave a satisfied work force which is one step in
the realisation of their objective.
While serving as an incentive to enhance efficiency and the quality
of service in the state transport sector, the programme will also serve
as an evaluation and an appreciation of the work performed by transport
sector employees. Initially, students who have obtained credit passes
for all 10 subjects will be entitled for ‘Sisu Thilina’ awards.
Other students will be entitled for awards later. The awards ceremony
will be held at the BMICH in August. President Mahinda Rajapaksa will
preside at the ceremony. |
