One thousand vacancies in Postal Department

COLOMBO: The Postal Department has appealed to the Treasury for funds to fill 1,000 vacancies prevailing in the Department for a long period, Post Master General S. Senadeera said. As the dearth of personnel continue in all sections of the Department, it has caused a serious hindrance to carry out the day-to-day work of the Department.

The Post Master General disclosed that no sooner the approval of the Treasury is obtained, measures would be taken to fill these vacancies immediately.

The GCE (A/L) is the minimum qualification required to apply for these vacancies. Senadeera further said that the Department is considering granting permanent status to 900 acting Sub Post Masters who are serving in the country.
