National Chamber delegation makes inroads into Malaysian business
circles
Discussions: The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL)
trade delegation which visited Malaysia recently had frutiful
discussions with several leading chambers in Malaysia paving the way to
explore bi-lateral business opportunities.

Commission in Malaysia G.L. Gnanadeva, Managing Director of
Multilack Paints, Mohamed Mizver, Management Consultant, Nihal
Perera, Assistant General Secretary of the National Chamber of
Commence of Sri Lanka, Buddhika Mallawarachi, Regional Export
Director of Orange Electric Orville Symons and CEO of Orange
Electric Ananda Rajapakse who was leader of the Sri Lanka
delegation with Mohamed Zaki Bin Hanifa, Vice President of the
Malay Chamber of Commerce and the office bearers.

Malaysia is one of the most developed nations in Asia and is the
world's 19th largest exporter. Malaysia has a steadily growing SME
sector and a broad based manufacturing sector, which accounts for 80% of
the countries exports.
Malaysia is one of the world's largest producers of microchips and
palm oil. Today Malaysia is positioned as the gateway to Asia Pacific
region, which consist of many Asian tiger economies that are vital
markets for Sri Lankan exports.
The Sri Lanka Trade delegation had fruitful discussions with the
chamber members of the Malay Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, The
Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia and The Indian Chamber of
Commerce of Malaysia. All these Chamber members have shown enthusiasm in
having sri Lankan Business Partners to start joint ventures and trading.
In addition the delegation was hosted to detailed presentations and
discussions by the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, (MIDA)
Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Small and
medium Industries Development Corporation of Malaysia (SMIDEC) and
Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).
All these appointments were very well planned and arranged by the Sri
Lankan Trade Secretary G.L Gnanadeva of the Sri Lankan High Commission
in Kuala Lumpur. As a follow up to this visit, the Sri Lanka Malaysia
Business Council has arranged for 25 Sri Lankan companies to participate
in the "GLOBAL SME 2007" a strategic partnership and business networking
exhibition to be held in Kualar Lumpur from 6th to 8th September. |
