Rs. 57 m for 555 Samurdhi projects

COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority has allocated Rs. 57
million for 555 projects conducted by the Samurdhi Authority.
Under this programme, the Samurdhi Authority will financially assist
the Human Resources Development and Industrial Development of 555
projects for the year 2007. The programme is scheduled to be completed
within 2007 itself under two stages.
Initially, 313 training programmes will be carried out in 60
Divisional Secretariat areas in 18 districts for field officers. The
programme has aimed to train 2,120 Samurdhi Development Officers and 170
Samurdhi Managers. Samurdhi Authority sources said the authority has
allocated Rs. 30 million for these training programmes.
In addition Rs. 1 million has been allocated for undergoing various
training programmes which are conducted by external organisations for
officers attached to the authority. This will be carried out under the
theme Human Resources Development and the authority aims to uplift the
productivity, efficiency of its officers.
Further Rs. 7 million has also been allocated for international
training programmes for identified officers.
Moves are under way to develop the Samanala Wewa training Centre and
Samurdhi Bank Units. The Authority has allocated Rs. 9 million for
fulfilling land requirements of Samurdhi Bank.
