President’s visit strengthens Lanka-Kuwait ties

KUWAIT: President Mahinda Rajapaksa has met the Kuwaiti Prime
Minister H.H. Nassar Al Mohammad Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and other
high-level Kuwaiti leaders and had bi-lateral talks of mutual interest,
beneficial to Sri Lanka and Kuwait.
In his official two day visit to Kuwait, President Rajapaksa had met
the Premier and other officials on Monday at the Bayan Palace.
President Rajapaksa had told the Kuwaiti Premier that he had been to
Kuwait in 1995 when he was a minister.
He thanked the Government of Kuwait for their generous contributions
in the great hour of need following the tsunami devastation. The Premier
had said that President Rajapaksa’s visit had further consolidated the
existing bonds of friendship between the two countries.
President Rajapaksa had also met the Kuwaiti Industries Minister
Abdul Wahid Ahamad and discussed ways of cooperating in the sphere of
industries by exchanging technological programmes between the two
countries.
They had also discussed at length, the prospects of offering better
welfare services to the Sri Lankan workers and utilise their Human
Resources more effectively with the view of remunerating them
appropriately.
President Rajapaksa had also met Kuwaiti Finance Minister Bader
Meshari Al Humaithi and Speaker Jassim Mohommad Al Khorafi later in the
day. |
