CSE records Rs. 1.46 b turnover

COLOMBO: Yesterday's share market was able to secure a turnover of Rs
1.46 billion and recorded 110 points during the days trading due to
strong foreign support, its sources said.
During the day's trading at the Colombo Stock Market, 46 million
shares of MTN Networks Limited were traded to the value at Rs 1.2
billion.
Malaysia Telekom (MT) traded 42 million shares. MTN shares were
traded at Rs 27 which was Rs 1 above the normal rate while the balance
four million shares of Dialog traded between Rs 23.75- 26.50.
MT which holds nearly a 80 per cent of stake in Dialog shares, had
disposed 0.6 per cent of their stake yesterday to increase their
liquidity level, sources said.
According to Business Development Manager of Bartleet Mallory
Stockbrokers (Pvt) Limited Angelo Ranasinghe, the All Share Price Index
up rose by 41 points and Milanka was up 49 points, which reached the
market to a recovery level. If the turnover could be maintained at Rs
300 million for sometime it will help the market to recover to a great
extent, he said.
Other heavily traded stocks were John Keells Holdings, Distilleries,
Tokyo Cement (non voting), Sri Lanka Telecom and Colombo Dock Yard.
