All govt. offices shifted to Kotte soon

COLOMBO: Urban Development and Sacred Area Development
Ministry (UDSADM) and Board of Investment (BOI) has signed an agreement
to commence the second phase of Sethsiripaya administrative complex.
Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Ministry Secretary
Prof. P. Ramanujam and Board of Investment Chairman Dammika Perera
signed the agreement.
The signing ceremony was held at UDSADM premises under the patronage
of UDSAD Minister Dinesh Gunawardane and Enterprise Development and
Investment Promotion Minister Sarath Amunugama.
The Urban Development Authority will implement this project.
Through this agreement approval has been obtained to import essential
materials for the construction of the administrative complex. Rs. 3.2
billion has been reserved for the project. The Construction work on the
thirteen storeyed administrative complex is due to commence next month.
The Government has decided to remove all Government offices from
Colombo city for Sri Jayawardanapura, Kotte with the view to develop it
as a main business hub minimising the congestion of the city.
Moves are under-way to implement this project immediately on the
directive and guidance of UDSAD Minister Dinesh Gunawardane.
Urban Development Authority Director General K.V. Dharmasiri, Deputy
Director General (Finance) Wasantha Geeganage too participated at this
