Low cost cottages for tourists

COLOMBO: The Ministry of Tourism will introduce a project to unveil low cost tourist houses (cottages) for local tourists.

As a first step, tourist houses set up in Mihintale for the use of devotees coming to Anuradhapura and Mihintale to attend Poson celebrations will be handed over to the public at a ceremony on May 17 at 2.00 p.m. with the participation of the Maha Sanga.

A committee headed by Ven. Walahahengunawewe Dharmarathana Thera, the Raja Maha Viharadhipathi Mihintalaya will look into the management of these houses meant for devotees, during the season.

The Government will spend around Rs. 20 million for this project. The Ministry plans to have similar houses in Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya and Kataragama Kirivehera, Ministry sources said.
