Grandeur of the Galle Face Hotel Ball Room
The Galle Face Hotel which was built in 1864, as the first purpose
built hotel in the city of Colombo has its Grand Ball Room in the Lobby
Level.
This unique banqueting facility with all its old world charm has been
the host to a wide ranging variety of functions, from the Colonial to
Sri Lankan heritage of hospitality which has been maintained over the
years.
Royalty, Colonial Governors Elitist Weddings upto present day sought
after - corporate functions have been held with great acceptance and
praise in this Ball Room.
There are also two other banquet facilities, the Jubilee Room that
could accommodate upto 250 guests. Jubilee Room was built to commemorate
the 60th year of the ascension to the Throne of Queen Victoria of
England.
This Banquet Room too has been part of the pride of the Galle Face
Hotel since 1897. Very few banquet facilities in any part of the world
can boast of such heritage in hospitality.
The other Banquet/Conference room is the Palm Lounge, which can
accommodate 150 guests at a sitting.
The Victorian architecture and the layout of these halls add to the
stature and class of the functions held.
With its heritage a frequently heard comment is that two or three
generations of each family have had their weddings at this venue. The
nostalgia culture and grandeur are unparalleled.
The present management team of the Galle Face Hotel F & B Department
headed by Nihal Perera and the Banquet Manager Prasantha de Silva have
continued in these traditions.
They have re-vitalized on a continuous basis the popularity and
standards of the banquets held in the Galle Face Hotel to be the market
leader of banqueting in the city of Colombo.
The first choice of most fastidious clients still varying from family
weddings to corporate cocktail parties and dinners still continue to be
the Galle Face Hotel banquet facility.
Prasantha de Silva who heads the Banquet Team is meticulous in his
attention to detail.
The F & B Team at the Galle Face Hotel realizes that banqueting is
the area which will give image to their hotel and they are flexible
enough to accommodate the most demanding request.
