Deaf schools netball and sixes on May 26

NETBALL: Deaf Schools Netball and six-a-side softball cricket tournaments 2007 organized by the Deaf School Past Pupils' Association, the school for the Deaf, Ratmalana will be held on 26 May 2007 at the De Soysa stadium, Moratuwa, commencing at 8.30 a.m. The finals and awards ceremony will be held on the same day which sponsored by Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited for the sixth successive year.

Defending champions, the School for the Deaf, Ratmalana are the favourites to win the Caltex trophies. Other strong participants are Islamic Centre for the Physically Handicapped, Thihariya, St. Joseph's School for the Deaf, Ragama, Siviraja Deaf and Blind School, Mahawewa and Rohana School for the Deaf, Matara. Caltex trophies, replicas and certificates will be awarded to the champions and runners up teams.

In addition special awards are on offer to the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder, Man of the Match for the cricket and the Best Player, Best Shooter for the Netball. All the players will be given the gifts.

Shivantha Vivekanandan, President and Chairman Organizing Committee said that Kishu Gomes Managing Director, Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited, had in a magnanimous gesture ventured out to sponsor the Deaf School Sports Activities.

He also thanked the co-sponsors, Principal, the members of the Parent - Teachers Association and Past Pupils' Association, The school for the Deaf, Ratmalana for their valuable support and encouragement.

Entry forms can be obtained from K.T.T. Sumanadasa Hony: Secretary, Deaf School Past Pupils' Association, The school for the Deaf, Ratmalana, or from Mrs. Marie Wijeyaratne (Principal). Entries close on 6th May 2007.
