LTTE threat to India
REACTIONS: This refers to the editorial "Get serious about LTTE
threat" (May 1). The aerial attacks by the LTTE in Sri Lanka are
assuming dangerous proportions and constitute a threat to India's
security.
The Centre should take serious note of the attack on the Ceylon
Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited and the killing of fishermen from
Tamil Nadu by the Sea Tigers. Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's assurance
that the outfit will be given no room in the State should send a clear
message to all LTTE sympathisers.
J. Suganthi, Lalgudi
Most political parties in Tamil Nadu seem to harbour the wrong notion
that the LTTE is the only saviour of the Tamils in Sri Lanka. The truth
is that the Tigers have never allowed any other Tamil party to grow in
the island country.
The LTTE's recent air attacks prove that it is reinforcing its
strength to terrorise not only the Government of Sri Lanka but also
India. Any display of sympathy to the outfit would constitute a
potential threat to national security.
R. Murali Kumar, Srirangam
The reaction of parties to the killing of five fishermen and the
abduction of 12 fishermen, and the damning silence maintained by India
will do no good to the country.
