Dilantha going great in Malaysia again
MOTOR RACING: Sri Lanka’s Dilantha Malagamuwa who managed to
win the Malaysian Super Car Championship competing in the championship
for the second a time with high hopes of retaining it for another year
did well last week at the Sepang FI Circuit.
The reigning champion who started from grid two behind Wira Dani Daim
won the first stage one. He was followed by Daim and Ron Lim.
Daim has the fastest car is handled by Daim which is named as the
Radical also equavalent to a Formula and avery light one compared to the
other cars for the event. Wira Dani Daim took pole position in his
Radical.
The first of the race Dilantha had a comfortable lead and went on to
win the same. He had a 16 second lead over Wira and 42 second lead over
Ron Lim who finished 3rd.
In the second leg of the same race Dilantha was the leader with 8
seconds and on the 9th lap his car came up with technical problems, when
the clutch slipped giving him no chance to keep up with the speed he was
maintaining.
With all this he was in front till the 12th lap where Daim took
control of the race. This resulted in pushing Dilantha to second slot
behind Daim. Dilantha had settle for the second slot. The third placed
Lim finished 35 secs. behind Dilantha.
Daim was declared the overall winner according to rules stipulated
for the particular race. The Malaysian Super Car Championship rules the
driver who wins the second leg and if placed second in the first leg
will be declared the winner. Though Dilantha finished behind Daim he too
has the same number of points (35).
Dilantha says that he will go all out to grab the highest points in
the forthcoming stage to have go at the championship for a second time.
He hopes get few modifications done to his Porsche 996 GT3.
This he says will help him to be along side Daim’s ‘Radical’ which is
a high powered engine.
All this expected come right before the next two stages. Dilantha is
scheduled come on to the same track to compete in the Porsche Carrera
Cup Asia 3rd and 4th stages on Sunday May 6. |
