COLOMBO: The Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services Ministry
will soon implement a new method to curb inefficiency of the ministry
staff, said Minister Maithreepala Sirisena.
The Minister was addressing an awareness programme on the Result
Based Monitoring and Evaluation (RBME) recently.
“There are many dedicated staff members in the Ministry while a few
drive three wheelers, engaging in businesses, getting French leave after
signing the attendance register,” the Minister pointed out.
“We being Government employees have dedication, devotion and
determination to lead the country to better future,” he added.
He said the Ministry has scheduled to state the National Agriculture
Policy next month. In addition, accelerated project of Local Food
Programme will also be implemented.
We have to think of the country and its future generation, said
Minister Sirisena. Under the RBME method, first ‘Base Line Data’ will be
collected focussing the institute’s short-term and long-term goals which
are called ‘Vision’ and ‘Mission’. According to the short term goal an
Annual Action Plan will be formed.
After the implementation of the annual plan, its progress will be
evaluated in every three months. Finally the progress of the action plan
will be evaluated, said a Ministry official.
