SL Academy’ register back to back wins

CRICKET: The Sri Lanka Academy team overcame a spirited fight back by Bangladesh to register their 2nd win at the Fatulla Cricket Stadium on Wednesday in the Tri- Nation Tournament which includes Pakistan.

The Sri Lanka Academy team now head the points table with 4 points at present.

The Sri Lankans who were put in to bat made 235 for 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Tharanga Paranavithana top scored with (69) runs while Angelo Mathews made (45) respectably.

These two batsmen were associated in a (77) run partnership for the 6th wicket which steadied the innings during the middle part of the essay.

The Sri Lankan batsmen at the completion of three games on tour are still struggling to come to terms with pitches in Bangladesh which are exceptionally slow and very low in bounce.

Bangladesh in reply got off to a brisk start with a (42) run partnership for the 1st wicket in even time, however thereafter the Sri Lankans tightened the screws on their opposition batsmen and with wickets falling at regular intervals the Bangladesh batsman found it difficult to keep the required momentum and eventually fell short by (16) runs of the Sri Lankan total.

The consistent Rakibul Hasan with (48) and Sagir Hossain (42 not out) was the only batsman to offer some resistance to the Sri Lankan bowling.

In the Sri Lankan bowling Chaminda Vidanapathirana, Lasith Fernando and Nisal Randika shared (2) wickets each.

Sri Lanka Academy will play Pakistan on 28th April in there last round robin match at Fatulla Cricket Stadium.
