Air Force attack LTTE leaders’ gathering point

KILINOCHCHI: Air Force jets pounded an identified LTTE leaders’ gathering point, causing heavy damage to Tiger cadres in the East of Kilinochchi last morning, the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said.

According to a MCNS spokesman, Air Force jets successfully attacked a prominent LTTE leaders’ gathering point in the East of Kilinochchi yesterday around 7.30 a.m.

The MCNS spokesman said the target was successfully destroyed and it was believed that a number of high ranking LTTEers had been at the gathering.

According to defence sources, the air strike was made as a surprise assault on the LTTE believed to be regrouping for a fresh offensive against the Security Forces.
