May Day traffic arrangements

COLOMBO: The Colombo Traffic Police has informed road users and motorists of the following traffic arrangements in connections with the May Day rallies organised by political parties.

Accordingly vehicular traffic will be restricted on some routes while at others there will be total closure.

The May Day rally of UPFA will be held at Colombo Town Hall.

Closure of Roads: F.R. Senanayake Mawatha, C.W.W. Kannangara Mawatha from F.R. Senanayake to Dharmapala Mawatha.

Bus Routes :.A 01 and A 03 (Kandy Rd. and Negombo Rd.)

Passenger Buses could enter the Colombo City through the Kelani Bridge or Japan Friendship Bridge and Inguru Kade Traffic Junction-Prince of Wales Mw., Jethawana Mw., Amour Barber Traffic Junction, Panchikawatte Rd., Maradana Bridge Junction, Lipton Roundabout, T.B. Jayah Mw., Ibbanwala Junction, Lipton Roundabout, after disembarking proceed through the Library Roundabout, Ananda Kumaraswami Mw., No Max Car Park.

2. A O2 (Galle Road.)

Galle Road, Wellawatte, Bambalapitiya, Kollupitiya Traffic Signals Junction, Dharmapala Junction, through the Ananda Kumaraswami Mw. or Dharmapala Mw.

3. A 04, A 05 (9Horana Rd., Highlevel Rd.)

Pamankada Bridge, High Level Rd., Maya Mw., Havelock Rd., Thunmulla, Cumaratunga Munidasa Mw., J.O.C. Roundabout, Cambridge Place, Glass House Junction, Nanda Motors Junction, after disembarking proceed through the Horton Roundabout and No Max Car Park.

4. A 06 (Sri Jayawardane Pura Rd.)

Ayurveda Roundabout, Castle Street, D.S. Traffic Signals Junction, Horton Place, passengers deloading and Ananda Kumaraswami Mw., No Max Car Park.

Associated other rallies:

LSSP and MEP will walk through the Castle Weediya, D.S. Senanayake Traffic Signals Junction, Horton Place, Horton Place Roundabout, Srimath W.W. Kannangara Mw., F.R. Senanayake to the Main rally.

No vehicles will be permited for parking at the above roads.

Vehicle Parking facilities:

Bus Perk - No Max Ground.

Other light vehicles - Green Park Rd., from Marcus Fernando Roundabout to Horton Roundabout (to Viharamahadevi Park.)

For VIPs - Viharamahadevi Park (outdoor playground.)

The roads will be subjected to minimise the vehicles transportation:

The Colombo Traffic Police has appealed to drivers to avoid the following roads on 30.04.2007 from 1.00 pm and use the alternative roads for their destinations.

1. P.W.W. Kannangara Mw.

2. Dharmapala Mw.

3. Ananda Kumaraswami Mw.

4. All roads vicinity of Colombo Municipality Ground.

Alternative Roads:

The Vehicles from Colombo South - Through the Galle Rd., Pettah, Reclamation Road, Galpotta Roundabout, Hettiyawatte Junction, Through the Aluth Mw. or George R. de Silva Mw, to Colombo North side.
