Yesterday we received a letter from one of our readers living in Norway. A Sri Lankan Tamil, Raman. This is what he had to say.

“Win for Sri Lanka. Hei from Norway. We are Tamils, but Sri Lankan. We never carry anything other than the Sri Lankan flag. We are born to one Mother. Like that we are sons of Sri Lanka. We are celebrating all Sri Lankan matches and preparing for celebrations coming Saturday.

We will pray for the Sri Lankan players. We have to win this match.

We will. We are the only team that have given trouble to the Australians though we have lost to them once. But, it is a difficult task for the Aussies without Murali, Vass and Malinga.

Come on everybody. Lets forget about racial divide, UNITE and support Sri Lanka. Hurrah! Hurrah!” - Ramana.

It is our hope. Our dream. Our reader Raman has said it all. We are no Sinhalese. We are no Tamils. We are no Muslims. We are no Burghers. We are no Malays. We are Sri Lankans.

This is our country. Only we Sri Lankans united as one can build this land. But, if our politicians (that includes you- terrorist cum politician Mr. Prabhakaran) cannot unite to develop this country together, it’s time they learn a lesson from our Cricketers and ordinary Sri Lankans. Lets play Sri Lanka.
