Teen thumbs up for Lanka’s victory

TEEN THOUGHTS: Cricket fever has once again hit everybody in
the country. Shops close early and everybody tries to be at home when
the match begins. A few teens expressed their views and their hopes for
the Cricket World Cup 2007.

“Winning the World Cup once again will make our nation proud. It will
bring glory to our Motherland. It is a great honour. The Sri Lankan team
is playing well and they can surely win the World Cup,” Ramesh
Arsakularatne, 14, said. Madhupa Cooray, 14, said that Sri Lanka will
win the World Cup.
“The Sri Lankan team plays well. The unity in the team will bring
them victory. I think Mahela Jayawardene will lead the team towards
victory,” he said.
“I think Sri Lanka will win. They played the previous matches

with confidence. They performed well. I hope Sanath Jayasuriya
will play some of his best shots at the finals,” Adhila Zaharan, 15,
said.
Hasith Jayasinghe, 15, said the team performed well in the past
matches.
“Fielding, bowling and batting were up to the standard. They had
practiced well and it will be easy for them to win the World Cup,”
Hasith said.
“I watch cricket matches. They faced the matches very well. They will
play the same way in the final match. Our team will surely win,” said
Jasser Zaharan.
Sasindu Silva, 15, said that he never misses the matches. “I watched
almost every match. I hope we will win the World Cup like in 1996. It
will bring great joy to everybody,” he said.
Denis Perera, 15, also added that Sri Lanka is definitely going to
win. “Sri Lankans can beat Australia. Our team will perform well. They
beat New Zealand in the last match. I hope everybody will do their best
and I
wish
them all good luck,” Denis said.
“Sri Lanka will definitely win the World Cup just like in 1996. The
whole team is playing extremely well. They will become the champions
this time. We are supporting them and wish them all the best,” Usama
Azhar, 18, said.
All the teen cricket fans are counting the days to watch the finals
and they wish the Sri Lankan cricket team best of luck in the match
against Australia.

First sports meet
MEET: The sports meet of St. Peter’s College, Udugampola
(branch of St. Peter’s College, Colombo 4) was held under the patronage
of Rev. Fr. Travis Gabrial, Rector of St. Peter’s College, Colombo 4,

The chief guest was OIC Minuwangoda Police Chinthaka Perera, an old
boy of St. Peter’s College, Colombo 4.
Though it was held for the first time, it was a colourful and
interesting event. All students were keen to get marks for their houses.
There was a march past and a drill display.
The students had decorated their tents in typical village style. A
huge crowd was present to witness this event.
